Yorkshire Day Marks Launch of Expanded Yorkshire Motorsport Festival Activities for 2021

Yorkshire Day, fittingly, sees the launch of the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival’s new website at www.yorkshiremotorsportfestival.co.uk.

Nestled within its pages is the outline of what will be an even bigger event than was previously planned for its scheduled date of June 25-27th 2021.

New to the Festival will be a number of themed “Villages.”

An Engineering Village will give companies that help keep the UK at the leading edge of motorsport technology the chance to face a trade audience with their products and services.  It will also showcase regional automotive engineering excellence, as well as focussing on the industry leaders of the future – with the emphasis on opportunities for future engineers and motorsport personnel, through further education establishments and apprenticeships.

A Yorkshire Retail Village will bring local businesses the chance to sell to the public at the show, while taking in all of the activities around a stage area, which will be a new focal point for the Festival, with fashion shows, celebrity interviews andcompetitions among its activities.

New theme displays are also being lined up, alongside those previously announced, such as the 100 Years of Speed Hillclimbing in Holmfirth. These will include an homage to the great racing cars of the Special Saloon/Donington GT era andtribute displays to important local motorsport figures as well as one of Britain’s best-loved and most successful national racers.

The Wolfstones Speed Hillclimb course – venue for the unique flat-out competition centrepiece of the Festival, which takes place on closed public roads that run through the middle of the Festival site just outside of picturesque Holmfirth – is now up to competition specification. The Hillclimb itself has continued to attract entries over the last few months, as news that the Festival would go ahead for 2021 reached potential competitors. The organisers are delighted to report that it will now feature as a round of at least one additional Marque Club’s speed event championship, as well as remaining part of the Jaguar Driver’s Club motorsport calendar for 2021.

The Festival is also delighted to welcome on board two new “Festival Faces” – the ambassadors for the event – in the shape of Ex-Formula One driver, turned Sky TV F1 expert, Karun Chandok and consumer rights campaigning TV Presenter, Quentin Willson.

“We have been using the downtime afforded to us by the necessary rescheduling of the event, to look at our plans for 2021 and to add new elements into the Festival that will further enhance it, making it even more attractive to public visitors, exhibitors & corporate partners as well as what we hope will be an enthusiastic trade audience,” explains Yorkshire Motorsport Festival joint-MD, Michael McErlain. “All of the key elements remain, but we are delighted to be able to bring in these new and exciting initiatives and features that will give people even more to see and do while they visit the Festival.”

The Yorkshire Motorsport Festival is also proving an attractive proposition to corporate partners with announcements due in the coming weeks.

The Festival is also proud to have signed up to partner, Welcome to Yorkshire’s Gift Card scheme, which will allow people to access various attractions throughout the county, as well as other national brands. To enhance this, the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival has put in place “Emma’s Festival Caravan Park”, which will offer a number of fully-equipped 2, 4 and 5 Berth caravans that will be available to hire for the entire Festival week. Renting a caravan will also include tickets for the Festival and its associated activities.

“The idea behind Emma’s Festival Caravan Park is to allow people to use it as a base from which to explore Yorkshire during the week of the Festival,” continues Michael McErlain. “The county has so much to offer and so we figured that a Festival caravan package would be a brilliant way of allowing people the chance to explore Yorkshire and be right in the heart of things for the Festival itself. It also represents incredible value, so I am certain it will be extremely popular.”

The Festival website – www.yorkshiremotorsportfestival.co.uk – and related Facebook and twitter apps will provide more details and news for visitors, participants and businesses.
