Vredestein Comtrac 2+ Wins Promobil Summer Tyre Test

The Vredestein Comtrac 2+ has won the latest group test of summer tyres conducted by Promobil, Germany’s largest motorhome magazine. Evaluating the performance of motorhome tyres across a variety of demanding scenarios, Promobil praised the Vredestein Comtrac 2+ in particular for its short braking distance in both wet and dry conditions.

The test compared seven leading summer tyres in the popular 225/75 R 16 C 121 R size, on a motorhome with a Fiat Ducato chassis. All of the tyres evaluated are ‘C-type’ products, specifically designed for vans, light trucks, campervans and motorhomes. The Comtrac 2+ delivered the best wet braking performance in the group, with a stopping distance of 27m at 80km/h, as well as achieving the highest speed of 93.5km/h in the aquaplaning test.

It also excelled in the dry, achieving the shortest braking distance of 41.1m. The performance in both wet and dry conditions ensured the Comtrac 2+ led the field and claimed the overall ‘Test Winner’ accolade.

Daniele Lorenzetti, Chief Technology Officer, Apollo Tyres Ltd, said: “This latest independent test confirms the Comtrac 2+ is one of the leading C-type summer tyres on the market. Tyre development requires a careful balance of characteristics, and this result shows that we have created a summer product that is an ideal choice for motorhomes operating in increasingly unpredictable weather conditions.”

Launched in late 2025, the Vredestein Comtrac 2+ is offered in 21 sizes, covering 15 to 17 inch rims, with selected dimensions featuring ‘XL’ load ratings for heavy-duty applications.

The tyre’s great performance in wet conditions is thanks to a highly dispersible silica filler and a tread pattern that quickly channels water away from the contact patch. These innovations reduce the risk of aquaplaning and deliver confidence-inspiring control in all driving conditions.

To aid longevity, the Comtrac 2+ features a durable construction and long-lasting tread materials. A strengthened bead area ensures greater stability and handling performance, even under demanding loads and when subject to high temperatures. The robust carcass construction and reinforced sidewall provide enhanced resistance to wear and tear.
