Vaculug is proud to announce the launch of its latest tyre innovation, specifically engineered to meet the unique demands of Electric Refuse Vehicles (ERVs).
As fleet operators continue the transition to electric-powered waste collection vehicles, tyre performance plays an increasingly important role in maximising vehicle efficiency, operational range and whole-life costs. Recognising these evolving requirements, Vaculug has developed a tyre designed to optimise the performance of ERVs while maintaining the durability expected in demanding municipal operations.
Developed in collaboration with tread compound specialist Vipal, the new tyre features an advanced tread pattern and compound specifically engineered for electric vehicle applications. A lean, optimised tread profile helps reduce rolling resistance, supporting improved vehicle range, while the specially formulated compound is designed to withstand the high torque generated during acceleration and regenerative braking without compromising service life.
In addition to enhancing efficiency, the tyre has been designed with reduced noise emissions, complementing the quiet operation of electric vehicles and contributing to a lower overall environmental impact for urban waste collection fleets.
Despite being lighter than Vaculug’s proven Waste Protektor WZY2, the new tyre retains the same robust full sidewall protection on both sides, delivering the durability and protection required for demanding refuse collection environments.
The first production tyres are now entering service with key Vaculug partners, where they will undergo operational evaluation in fleet applications.
This latest development reinforces Vaculug’s commitment to delivering innovative tyre solutions that support fleet operators through the transition to cleaner, more sustainable transport, without compromising performance, safety or longevity.
