Vaculug, is delighted to lend its support to this year’s National Careers Week. In highlighting the company’s initiatives and employment opportunities the Grantham manufacturer is helping to inspire the next generation of engineers, sustainability experts and business leaders across the East Midlands and beyond. For over 75 years Europe’s largest independent tyre remanufacturer has been supporting the regional and national jobs market.
National Careers Week is an important opportunity in the academic calendar, encouraging students to look ahead and think about their future working life. Vaculug is one of many companies wanting young people to take the chance to look beyond their immediate horizon and think about their pathway to fulfilling employment. This year, Vaculug is putting emphasis on the potential of the circular economy to play a vital role in the UK’s future industrial landscape, showcasing how a career in sustainable manufacturing is a direct contribution to the UK’s Net Zero goals.
Vaculug has developed a robust apprenticeship programme that sits at the heart of their growth strategy. Following a landmark year that saw the company celebrate its 75th birthday and included a celebration in the Houses of Parliament, Vaculug is re-emphasising its commitment to local youth development by investing in local talent.
The company currently offers apprenticeships ranging from mechanical engineering and technical production to business administration and marketing amongst others. These roles provide a unique earn-while-you-learn pathway, allowing young people from Grantham and the surrounding region to gain industry-leading skills without leaving the county.
Vaculug’s manufacturing processes places an emphasis on the power of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects when it comes to its specialised manufacturing process. Through remanufacturing tyres, the company saves up to 70% of the raw materials required for new tyres. As part of Careers Week, Vaculug will participate in a local careers fair to showcase their operational capabilities and demonstrate their commitment to supporting the next generation of professionals entering the workforce. This follows their recent involvement in National Apprenticeship Week, where Vaculug took the opportunity to highlight the outstanding contributions of their own apprentices to both internal stakeholders and the wider community.
Jorge Crespo, Managing Director of Vaculug, said: “We want students to see that subjects like Mathematics and Chemistry aren’t just abstract concepts, they are the tools we use to reduce carbon emissions and build a more resilient UK supply chain.”
“Right here in Grantham, we are leading the charge to create Britain’s future, circular economy. National Careers Week is the perfect time to remind young people of the exciting and diverse career opportunities available to them locally.”
