In 2007 UK based Vaculug, one of Europe’s largest independent and most successful tyre retreading manufacturers and Netherlands based Magna Tyres, the leading international manufacturer and supplier of quality OTR tyres incorporating industrial, mining and port handling market sectors, formed a new business partnership that would enable both companies to further their brand awareness in respective sectors of the tyre industry.
Over the following two decades this business liaison has evolved and played a significant role in the development of both companies.
Megan Campion, Marketing Manager for Vaculug says, “Our ultimate objective in linking up with Magna Tyres was two-fold. To increase our product portfolio into the OTR sector and also offer Vaculug’s Managed Contract service by including a Total Tyre Management solution. We became Magna Tyres UK distribution partners to provide a high-quality range of new OTR patterns to compliment the rest of the OTR portfolio that we currently offered.”
Stephan van Leeuwen – Sales Director at Magna Tyres adds, “Our highly successful partnership with Vaculug evolved from Magna obtaining a contract to supply solid tyres in the UK for Cemex Quarries wheel loaders and dump trucks. We asked Vaculug to manage this contract and stock our tyres at their Grantham headquarters and service all the Cemex sites including fleet inspections. It would be true to say that this partnership has significantly developed into a very successful co-operation between two highly ambitious companies.”
For Vaculug, the thriving partnership has helped the company steadily develop the Magna brand in as a market leading brand of choice for their growing customer portfolio. With cushion solid tyres for the waste industry and pneumatic tyres as the most popular selling tyre ranges, Mike Evans, Operations Director at Vaculug states, “The Magna Tyre brand is now firmly established in the UK as a brand that is completely trusted by our customers and contractors as a ‘value for money’ product with exceptional reliability and performance. We believe Magna is an outstanding brand and Vaculug look forward to a further 15 years of success and growth together.”
At the same time, Vaculug see the OTR sector as a key growth sector for the future and have recently expanded their team of OTR specialists with the appointment of Peter Roffrey. Despite difficult trading conditions over the past couple of years due to the covid pandemic, sales growth has ‘increased’ by thirty per cent, year on year and Vaculug anticipate a budgeted growth in excess of 45 per cent in 2023 with Magna playing a significant role in this development.
Looking to the future, both Vaculug and Magna Tyres are extremely confident the partnership will continue to prosper next year and beyond. Vaculug envisage targeting additional growth in the fleet market in areas where they are not so active at the moment, such as high-speed crane tyres.
Magna Tyres believe there is a growing trend in the UK consumer market to become even more focused on choosing OTR tyres based on quality and service support and that they have the perfect experienced distribution partner in Vaculug to elevate their brand to even greater achievements in the next two years.
