Independent tyre retailer Tyre Spot has strengthened its commitment to sustainability through its “Drive with Purpose” campaign, raising vital funds to support the work of the North East Community Forest.
The campaign ran throughout September and October across Tyre Spot’s branches in partnership with Radar Tyres, a brand produced by Omni United. Known across the tyre industry for its leadership in sustainability and social responsibility initiatives, Omni United’s approach helped inspire the campaign and its focus on supporting environmental causes.
During the two-month initiative, £1 was donated for every Radar tyre sold, with customers directly contributing to projects that benefit the environment and local communities. Thanks to their support, the campaign raised £2,414 for North East Community Forest, helping fund tree planting and nature recovery across the region.
The funding will contribute towards an ambitious woodland expansion at Milkwellburn Wood near Gateshead. The project will see more than 3,000 trees planted across a 5.45-hectare site, creating a diverse mixed broadleaf woodland designed to enhance wildlife habitats, improve climate resilience, and provide greater access to nature for local communities.
Delivered in partnership with the Durham Wildlife Trust, the planting will expand the existing Milkwellburn Wood site, strengthening natural habitats while maintaining the area as an accessible and valued community woodland.
A Tyre Spot spokesperson said: “We’re incredibly proud of what the Drive with Purpose campaign achieved. Radar Tyres have long been recognised for their leadership in sustainability, and that helped inspire us to create a campaign that could make a real difference locally. Thanks to the support of our customers, we’ve been able to contribute to an important project that will benefit the environment and our communities for years to come.”
While the campaign also raised the same amount for the Women’s Cancer Detection Society, Tyre Spot says its partnership with North East Community Forest reflects the company’s growing focus on environmental responsibility.
Looking ahead, the retailer-wholesaler plans to continue supporting the organisation through similar initiatives, while also encouraging its team to play a more active role. Later this year, Tyre Spot staff will join volunteers at community planting events to help establish the new woodland areas supported by the campaign.
By combining customer support, supplier partnerships, and hands-on action, the Drive with Purpose campaign highlights how businesses across the tyre industry can play a meaningful role in supporting local environmental sustainability.
