Sailun Receives TÜV SÜD MARK for its SDR1 TBR Pattern

This month, Sailun’s SDR1 TBR pattern successfully passed the highly-sought-after TÜV MARK certification, cementing the brand itself as the first Chinese manufacturer in the tyre industry to do so.

The SDR1 series of tyres from Sailun are sold in more than 30 countries and regions in Europe, such as Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, and Spain and has been well received by all Sailun dealers in Europe. The passing of this certification has not only demonstrated Sailun’s strengths in development and production in high-end tyre products, but it also signifies the approval of the European market towards its products, laying the foundation for growth in this high-end market.

The TÜV SÜD Group of Southern Germany is one of the most respected third-party certification bodies in the world and is considered a top provider in tyre certification. Certification from TÜV SÜDMARK is one way many tyre brands evaluate their high-performance products, and is also recognised as a strict certification, with testing requirements far higher than other European regulations. TÜV SÜD itself is connected directly to the leading technical level of the European market and relevant OEM requirements. Meanwhile, the German TÜV SÜD demands consistency: test sample selections must use a method of randomly sampling tyres about every 18 months on the market to ensure that test results are fair, true, and reliable. If a product fails random inspection, the certification will be immediately cancelled. Those that have achieved a TÜV SÜDMARK are also liable to factory reviews every 12 months to ensure quality processes meet the independent organisation’s standards.

The testing focus on TBR tyres is slightly different from PCR tyres. In addition to ensuring wet performance and economy (rolling resistance), high-speed durability is also a very important safety standard which are all inherent in Sailun’s SDR1. In a severe durability test, TÜV requires tyres to conduct testing under low pressure, high load, and a periodic speed increase of. The entire test must be completed and pass without failure. During testing, the Sailun SDR1 successfully passed the varying tests, including wet braking, rolling resistance, durability, and noise. The results provided a comprehensive score that met TÜV SÜD MARK requirements cementing Sailun as the first Chinese tyre brand to pass the TÜV SÜD MARK for TBR tyres.

Technological R&D has been a focus at Sailun since its inception. As vigorous advocates of global R&D investment and testing, Sailun believes it is their responsibility to push the limits of what tyre products can provide for consumers and customers alike. The independently conducted test results by TÜV SÜD for SDR1 help to confirm this. SDR1 surpassed testing standards in wet braking performance with 16% better stopping distance, noise emission levels 1DB lower, rolling resistance 9% lower, and passed the endurance tests.
