RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires regrets to confirm that the Nysum and Finnskogbanen rounds on the series’ 2020 calendar will not be able to take place on their original dates due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Nysum in Denmark had initially been scheduled to host rounds three and four of the season on 6/7 June, with rounds five and six at Finnskogbanen in Norway following on 25/26 July. Unfortunately, recent government announcements in both countries prohibiting major gatherings of 500 people or more until at least the end of August make it impossible for the RallyX Nordic race meetings at the two tracks to go ahead as planned. This follows last month’s news that the Höljes curtain-raiser has had to be postponed on similar grounds. Series organisers are currently working hard to evaluate all options and possible dates and keeping a close eye on the evolving COVID situation, and will communicate more information once it is available. “It is obviously regrettable that we find ourselves in the position of having to postpone more race meetings, but in the current climate, there is unfortunately no other way,” said Jan-Erik Steen, CEO of RallyX Nordic promoter, RX Promotion. “We have seen so many championships and events all around the world impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and RallyX Nordic is not immune to its effects. The limit of 500 people does not even cover everybody required to run the race weekends – from competitors to officials and media – and in all cases, safety must be the absolute priority. We are working hard to find a solution and hope to have some positive news to share soon.” |
