Prometeon Tyre Group, a global manufacturer of tyres for the commercial, agricultural and OTR sectors, is continuing its long-standing technical partnership with Czech rally truck manufacturer MM Technology, with Prometeon tyres fitted to the new MMT EVO5 Dakar Rally truck.
The MMT EVO5 is the latest truck developed by MM Technology, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and developers of rally competition trucks. The company was co-founded by Martin Macík Jr., a two-time Dakar Rally winner and champion of several other major events, including the Baja Aragón and Rallye du Maroc.
Experience and data gathered by the MM Technology Factory Team and MMT customer teams, including during this year’s Dakar Rally, have fed directly into the development of the new vehicle. Key upgrades include reinforced chassis components, a stronger cab structure and a new shock absorber configuration developed in close collaboration with suppliers.
Prometeon is MM Technology’s exclusive original equipment (OE) tyre partner, with every rally truck produced at its facility in Sedlčany equipped with Prometeon tyres. The partnership brings together tyre and vehicle development, underpinned by a shared commitment to continuous research and development and ambitious performance goals.
The joint development programme between Prometeon’s engineers, MM Technology and Martin Macík Jr. has also driven the evolution of Prometeon’s rally tyre range, from the original S02 Pista, designed for extreme conditions, through the S02 Rally to today’s S02 Rally EVO, the company’s most advanced rally tyre to date.
The partnership was put to the test again at the 2026 Dakar Rally, where MM Technology entered nine trucks, eight of which reached the finish line and six secured places in the overall top ten. Both teams competing on Prometeon tyres, the MM Technology Factory Team, led by Martin Macík Jr., and ItalTrans Racing Team finished within the overall top nine, demonstrating the reliability, durability and performance of the tyres in demanding rally conditions.
Development work is continuing ahead of the upcoming rally-raid season. In recent weeks, engineers from Prometeon and MM Technology have completed an extensive testing programme in the Tunisian desert, gathering further data to refine both the tyres and the new truck.
For Prometeon, motorsport continues to provide a unique proving ground for innovation, where every kilometre covered contributes to the continuous improvement of tomorrow’s products.
Francisco Nascimento, Head of R&D for Products at Prometeon, stated: “Our collaboration with MM Technology goes far beyond a technical partnership. It is a genuine joint development programme built around continuous innovation. Having one of the world’s leading rally truck manufacturers choose Prometeon as its exclusive original equipment tyre supplier is a source of great pride and enables us to develop our products in the most demanding environments imaginable.”
“Martin Macík Jr.is an exceptional development driver whose feedback constantly pushes us to raise the bar. Together with the expertise of the MM Technology engineering team and our drive for innovation, we are even more confident in the capabilities of our latest generation of tyres, and are proud to see them fitted as original equipment on the new MMT EVO5 as it embarks on its competitive journey.”
