A 40-year industry veteran has joined Point S UK’s growing tyre and repair network, bringing decades of industry experience that will help workshops improve performance, strengthen customer retention, and capitalise on growth opportunities.
Mick Standbridge has been appointed as Business Development Manager South West with a clear brief to help members in the area achieve growth through the Point S network and expand the organisation’s geographical footprint.
The appointment comes as independent workshops and tyre retailers face increasing commercial pressures, with many independent businesses in need of stronger operational and commercial support to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market. In his new role, Mick will work closely with both existing and prospective members, helping businesses improve performance, strengthen customer retention, and capitalise on growth opportunities.
Bringing more than 40 years of industry experience, Mick joins Point S following 12 years as a Business Development Manager at Toyo Tyres UK. Over the course of his career – which began as atyre fitter at an independent dealership – he has held senior operational and leadership roles spanning retail, wholesale, and manufacturing, including 22 years with RSR Tyres & Wheels, where he ultimately served as General Manager, overseeing a network of over 10 branches.
At Point S, Mick will focus on expanding the network’s presence across the South West while supporting independent workshops and tyre dealers to improve profitability and long-term sustainability.
Mick Standbridge said: “Independent tyre retailers and workshops are operating in a far more challenging environment than even a few years ago, from changing customer expectations to rising operating costs. What attracted me to Point S is its genuine commitment to helping independents succeed through practical support and strong partnerships. I’m looking forward to working closely with businesses across the region to help them grow, adapt and make the most of the opportunities ahead.”
Ali Yilmaz, Point S UK Managing Director, added: “As our network continues to grow, investing in experienced people who understand the realities of the independent sector is essential. Mick brings deep industry knowledge and trusted relationships built over decades, which will be invaluable as we strengthen our regional presence and provide even greater support to workshops and tyre retailers.”
Mick Standbridge’s appointment reflects Point S’s ongoing strategy to expand its national footprint while championing the independent automotive sector – helping family-run businesses remain competitive and ensuring drivers continue to benefit from trusted local repair and tyre specialists.
