Prostate Cancer UK is the UK’s leading men’s health charity, investing into ground-breaking treatments and tests, such as using MRI scans to diagnose the disease, described as the biggest leap forward in prostate cancer diagnosis for decades.
Pirelli UK is passionate about supporting Prostate Cancer UK’s research into better tests and treatments for prostate cancer, helping men get diagnosed earlier. There is a striking statistic that more than 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that’s 129 men every day.
Prostate Cancer UK will work closely with Pirelli, experts in the automotive and tyre manufacturing industry, to ensure their staff, customers and suppliers are all better informed about the disease. Prostate cancer mainly affects men over 50, black men aged over 45 and men with a family history of the disease.
Pirelli, who marks its 150th anniversary in 2022, hopes to rally support for the organisation, whilst heightening awareness of one of the most diagnosed cancers in the UK. Sadly every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer, more than 11,500 men every year. In support of the charity, company employees will support and take part in a range of activities and initiatives, both those organised by Prostate Cancer UK including September’s March the Month challenge, and some new and exciting challenges, all in a bid to raise funds.
Pirelli UK wholeheartedly shares Prostate Cancer UK’s vision of a world where men affected by the disease can live long and live well. The donations and awareness Pirelli UK hope to raise will mean Prostate Cancer UK can continue their life-saving work to prevent the disease from damaging the lives of thousands of men and their families.
Pirelli UK Chairman & CEO, Dominic Sandivasci, said: “At Pirelli UK we are delighted to begin working closely with Prostate Cancer UK as our official UK corporate charity, helping the fight against this disease. We also want to encourage and empower our employees to feel confident in having life-saving conversations.
