Pirelli’s well-known tyres for both racing drivers as well as enthusiastic everyday motorists formed a highlight of the Autosport International Show in Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.
As well as P ZeroTM tyres for Formula 1, the new 18-inch tyres for Formula 2 as well as rally tyres and GT tyres, Pirelli also showcased some exciting new concepts aimed at non-professional drivers.
P ZeroTM Experience, an event that has gone to iconic locations such as Mugello, Yas Marina and Hockenheim in the last couple of years, now comes to Britain in 2020, on perhaps the most famous circuit in the country. P ZeroTM Experience represents the ultimate in track days, aimed at supercar and hypercar owners who want to exploit the full potential of their cars in a race-bred environment.
At each event, Pirelli takes over the track and brings its expert engineers to help drivers get the most out of their car-tyre package as part of a truly memorable experience, with unforgettable hospitality.
The first P ZeroTM Experience in the UK will be in association with Salon Privé, and will take place at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix, on June 2nd and 3rd. In short, P ZeroTM Experience is the closest that any driver can get to becoming a professional racing driver for a day. But no racing licences are needed: just the right car and a passion for driving, which has always been the hallmark of Pirelli.
Those who are serious about track days can also benefit from Pirelli’s Track AdrenalineTMsystem, launched last year. This works by connecting sensors embedded in a specialist P ZeroTM Trofeo R tyre to a bespoke app, which collects telemetry in real time as well as acting as a tyre pressure monitoring system and data bank.
It’s linked to a GPS system, which means that drivers can receive detailed information about which racing lines they are taking and how efficiently they are using the tyres. All this adds up to faster lap times, almost like having a driver coach with you at all times.
