Nova Motorsport has unveiled its new ACB11 rallycross tyre at the Loheac round of the 2024 French Rallycross Championship (FFSA Championnat De France Rallycross), of which the brand is the title sponsor, on 31st August. The latest ACB11 tyre is produced in Nova Motorsport’s new factory in Portugal, using the same moulds, compound and construction as the most successful rallycross tyre of all time, previously manufactured under the Avon Motorsport and Cooper Tires brands.
The ACB11 has an unrivalled success story in numerous global rallycross championships that have run on open and contracted tyre supply basis. The series-specific tyre has now won 10 FIA World Rallycross Championships, over 20 successive European crowns, and numerous national titles.
Rallycross forms one of the founding pillars of the Nova Motorsport strategy to produce specialist motorsport tyres for key series; as Nova Motorsport Commercial Director James Weekley explains: “We are delighted to bring back the ACB11 for rallycross competitors across the globe. Rallycross is one of the fastest, most exciting and most competitive, some might say most combative, forms of motorsport on the planet. And its values align precisely with Nova Motorsport’s ethos.
“Of all motorsport disciplines, rallycross is one of the most challenging for a tyre manufacturer. The combination of high-powered cars, jumps, bumps, aggressive kerbs, and ferocious wheel-to-wheel action places significant loads and forces on the tyre. Due to their extensive previous experience with the Avon Motorsport and Cooper Tires brands, the Nova Motorsport team members have unmatched in-depth expertise of the sport.”
To ensure the highest possible levels of consistent manufacturing quality and product performance at its new manufacturing facility, Nova Motorsport transported 200 lorries of equipment from the former Avon factory in Melksham, UK, to Portugal. The refurbished manufacturing facility now hosts a state-of-the-art research and development laboratory to replicate the previously produced tyres and formulate new tyres for existing or future championships.
Nova Motorsport Senior Product Category Manager, Matthew Vincent commented: “Our new laboratory helps us to more effectively utilise the unparalleled experience in our technical teams and combine it with the specialist compounding expertise of our parent company SPC. This means we can both precisely replicate the tyres made at the previous Avon Motorsport factory in Melksham and develop innovative new formulations that will enable us to create further championship-winning tyres in the future.”
Nova Motorsport looks forward to announcing further developments and product releases in the coming months. The ACB11 will be available for the start of the 2025 season.
