Nova Motorsport has announced the formation of a strategic partnership to sponsor the 2024 French Rallycross Championship (FFSA Championnat De France Rallycross). The nine-round series, which resumes at Faleyras in the southwest of France 25th – 26th May.
Nova Motorsport is a new brand inspired by heritage and dedicated to technical excellence. Having acquired the assets of Avon Motorsport from Cooper Tire, Nova Motorsport builds on the rich legacy established by Avon Motorsport / Cooper Tire across global rallycross.
Rallycross represents a key pillar of Nova Motorsport’s ambitious growth strategy, and the announcement follows the brand’s sponsorship of the European-wide RallyX championship, and furthers its global commitment to the sport of rallycross at all levels.
Ensuring continued supply of the Avon Motorsport / Cooper Tire ACB11 rallycross tyre, the most successful tyre in the sport ever, for the 2024 season, along with all rallycross products from the Avon Motorsport / Cooper Tire portfolio is central to Nova Motorsport’s core mission. The brand is currently establishing a global centre of research and development and manufacturing excellence, which will be based at the Camac production facility in Portugal, acquired by Nova Motorsport last month.
Nova Motorsport will commence a comprehensive test programme of the first rallycross tyres manufactured at the new facility in Portugal later year. This will run in tandem with a R&D drive to develop new high-performance products for the future with increased focus on sustainability.
James Weekley, Nova Motorsport Commercial Director, commented: “Nova Motorsport is delighted to become the title sponsor of the 2024 French Rallycross Championship. The series is widely regarded as one of the strongest in Europe and rightly so. In addition to the 500hp Supercar, Super 1600, Division 3 and Division 4 categories, which all provide some incredibly close-quarter competition, the French Rallycross Championship also promotes equally hard-fought-for categories for Junior and Female drivers.
“This innovative approach to showcasing rallycross to a wider audience dovetails perfectly with Nova Motorsport’s strategy to keep alive the legacy of Avon Motorsport / Cooper Tire within rallycross, while creating new tyre products for the future at our new global centre of research and development and manufacturing excellence. The FFSA French Rallycross Championship will play a key role in promoting and growing both the Nova Motorsport brand and the sport of rallycross.”
Jean-Jacques Benezet, Association of French Rallycross Organisers President, said: “While the name of Nova Motorsport may be new on the world motorsport stage, the team members behind the company are very familiar to and highly respected by everyone in French rallycross. They bring an exceptional amount of commercial and technical experience of the sport from their time with Avon Motorsport. This makes Nova Motorsport the ideal sponsor partner for the French Rallycross Championship. We look forward to working closely with Nova Motorsport to create an even more exciting championship for competitors and fans alike.”
Nova Motorsport trackside branding will feature prominently at all nine rounds of the FFSA French Rallycross Championship presented by Nova Motorsport, to increase exposure of the brand and drive engagement with competitors, customers and fans.
In addition to partnering with French Rallycross Championship, and the European-wide RallyX championship, Nova Motorsport is also the official tyre supplier of four prestigious Peter Auto historic racing series in Europe and the title sponsor and major tyre supplier of the British Hillclimb Championship.
