New Vredestein-Backed Manchester United Soccer School Events to Support Youth Charities

Apollo Tyres, via its Vredestein premium tyre brand, is collaborating with Manchester United to launch a programme of ‘Soccer School’ days across Europe in 2023, providing children and young people with exclusive coaching sessions that encourage exercise and foster personal development.

The new Vredestein-branded Manchester United Soccer Schools events will be delivered in Italy, Poland and the Netherlands, all in collaboration with a key youth charity in each country that focuses on supporting children’s education, housing and mental and physical welfare. The objective of each Vredestein Manchester United Soccer School is to help boys and girls realise their potential both socially and academically.

Since 1999, Manchester United Soccer Schools has delivered a range of football activities for over 500,000 participants, introducing children to professional coaches from grassroots, academy and national level across 90 different countries. The programme offers participants aged from 12 to 18 an insight into the importance of attitude, teamwork, skill, strength and listening in the sport, inspiring young people to learn and develop.

“The Soccer Schools build upon our long-standing relationship with Manchester United, and provide a great platform to extend our community support activities,” says Benoit Rivallant, President and CEO of Apollo Tyres Europe. “We are proud to be a part of such an exciting and purposeful initiative, and we look forward to using the Vredestein brand to help promote grassroots football and the development of children’s welfare in key markets across Europe.”

On 25 March, the first Vredestein-backed Manchester United Soccer School took place at Hotel Touring in Coccaglio, in Brescia Italy, held in association with the charity Associazione Immagine, which supports the education of underdeveloped and marginalised families across Italy.

On 1 April, the second session will take place at the Trylogia Hotel in Warsaw, Poland; the location has lodging facilities, a full-size grass football pitch and an extensive recreational area. Apollo Tyres will work with the national charity Nadzieja na Mundial, which contributes to the development of children in care homes through sports and education, providing the possibility of a better start in adult life.

Finally, the third session in 2023 will be launched on 8 April in Enschede, Netherlands, at Vogido Football Academy – near Apollo Tyres’ production facility. The Soccer School will be held in collaboration with Sportaal, an Enschede based organisation that supports collaborative sports, and the Johan Cruyff Foundation which, since 1997, has established initiatives that improve the fitness of children and their personal development, including setting up sports facilities in deprived areas and helping children with special needs.

Michael Neary, Head of Coaching Manchester United Soccer Schools, “We are delighted to be working with Vredestein to host Manchester United Soccer Schools across various locations in Europe. Football is an international language which gives myself and my fellow coaches the ability to interact and engage with local communities. We know some of the youths we will be working with have been or are still going through some difficult experiences and we hope, through the language of football, to inspire, challenge and motivate them to do well in life.”

Apollo Tyres and Manchester United

Apollo Tyres became the official Global Tyre Partner of Manchester United in 2018. In 2020 the company expanded the scope of the collaboration to include its Vredestein tyre brand. Today, the Vredestein brand can be seen on the pitch-side advertising boards at Manchester United home games.

The alignment of Apollo Tyres’ Vredestein brand with Manchester United is compelling, as they share many common attributes. Both the football club and the brand have been top performers in Europe for over a century – underlined by Vredestein’s multiple award wins tyres and Manchester United via its English Premier League and European trophies. They share the same drive for success based on best-in-class performance.
