New Ultra-High Performance GitiSportS2 Raises the Bar Across All Key Measurements

Giti Tire’s ultra-high performance GitiSportS2 tyre has been launched in an additional 27 sizes, giving access to higher levels of precise control to more motorists.

When launched in 2021, Fabio Pecci-Boriani, Senior Product Manager PCR, SUV, Light Truck for Giti Tire (Europe), described the tyre as: “The most technologically advanced, best performing, and dare I say the most exciting UHP tyre ever developed by the European R&D team.”

Designed using AdvanZtech, the Giti Tire’s globally-integrated, company-wide R&D system, the GitiSportS2 features a brand new compound that offers extremely high levels of grip which has resulted in an A grading for wet braking. Rolling resistance is measured from B-E.

Further design features include four or five longitudinal grooves, dependent on tyre size, for exceptional water drainage, micro-sipes in the contact area for additional suction and grip effect and an optimised pattern block geometry and pitch for low noise and driving comfort.

The tyre, which is aimed at compact and intermediate size cars and SUVs with a sport orientation such as the Mercedes C Class, Cupra Leon, Audi TT and Audi Q5.

Pecci-Boriani said: “The GitiSportS2 is now available in 41 sizes with rims from 16-21”, section widths from 195-295, series sizes from 35-55 and speed indices from V-Y.

“This means our most expansive and exciting UHP tyre covers over 95% of passenger car and 75% of SUV sizes in the top 80 most demanded sizes.

“Put simply a number of motorists who have yet to feel this tyre’s precise control and braking performance are in for a real treat.”

The GitiSportS2‘s pattern design and latest compound technologies deliver a 5% improvement in wet and dry braking and handling plus a 14% increase in aquaplaning resistance against the previous model, the GitiSportS1. The tyre will also deliver around 10% more mileage dependent upon driving characteristics.

The GitiSportS2 was designed and engineered at Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, with testing at the company’s MIRA facility in the UK as well as key locations in Germany and Spain.
