New Kia Niro Comes Factory-Fitted with Premium Tyres from Continental

For its new Niro, Kia is once again factory-fitting tyres from Continental. The tyre manufacturer is supplying its EcoContact 6 Q and PremiumContact 6 premium tyres directly to the factory. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the fully electric Niro model variant is being factory-fitted with 17″ EcoContact 6 Q tyres. The HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) versions are rolling ex works on 18″ tyres from the PremiumContact 6 line.

The EcoContact 6 Q is characterised not only by its outstanding energy efficiency and service life, but also its superior handling and braking performance. The tread profile constantly adapts to the road surface, ensuring a longer tyre life. The specially developed rubber compound minimises friction when the tyre is in contact with the road surface, which means that the tyre absorbs less energy and, in turn, rolling resistance is reduced. Thanks to modified blocks, sipes and lateral grooves, the EcoContact 6 Q is also noise-optimised.

The PremiumContact 6 – winner in the 2022 ADAC summer tyre test (size tested: 215/60 R 16 99V) – offers exceptional safety and comfort. The special rubber compound in the tread, which is crucial for the tyre’s grip, ensures outstanding safety and wet braking characteristics. The tyre design provides high cornering stability and ensures high lateral force transmission. The special design, featuring circumferential grooves, allows for a rapid response in terms of handling and steering precision on wet and dry roads.

In many countries around the world, Continental also offers a wide range of additional summer, winter and all-season tyres – including test winners such as the AllSeasonContact – for the Kia Niro as part of its tyre replacement business.

Automotive manufacturers all over the world rely on Continenta]l as a leading tyre supplier. In Europe, almost one in three cars roll off the assembly line fitted with Continental tyres. Continental is further strengthening its position as a supplier of tyres for fully electric vehicles. In 2021, for example, seven of the ten highest-volume manufacturers of electric vehicles worldwide opted for the tyre manufacturer’s high level of technological expertise as original equipment.

The following products and sizes are approved ex works for the Kia Niro in the respective markets:

EMEA: EcoContact 6 Q 215/55 R17 94V
