New EWC Season Begins with Le Mans Showdown

Dunlop Motorcycle Europe continues as an Official Partner of the FIM Endurance World Championship for another season which begins this weekend with the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans.

As the exclusive tyre supplier to the Superstock class since 2022 and Production  Trophy class since 2025, Dunlop tyres are raced by two-thirds of the grid. The top category, Formula EWC, is open tyre competition, and Dunlop is the choice of seven top teams fighting against factory teams for a spot on the podium, including the No. 6 ERC Endurance team which will look to repeat its podium success from last year.

Dunlop provides a range of slick and wet tyres from its KR racing range, including a combination of off-the-shelf and development tyres. EWC remains one of the most valuable aspects of the Dunlop tyre development programme, and serves as a test bed for the next generation of racing and track day tyres.

One of these is a new front tyre that will feature this weekend. This medium specification, with the development name G2_01 VAL3, will be used by Formula EWC teams, and as one of two choices for Superstock and Production teams. It will be visually distinguishable with a yellow Dunlop sidewall decal.

“The start of a new season is always an exciting time, especially when we begin with the most prestigious endurance race on the calendar,” said David Auerbacher, International Motorcycle Race Event Leader, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe. “We’re ready for another season of endurance racing, where we’ll continue introducing new tyre specs to keep pushing performance across three classes with very different philosophies and goals.”

“The Le Mans Bugatti circuit has low grip levels compared to other tracks, and coming here in April can often throw up unpredictable weather. Managing tyre performance day and night in a range of conditions is key to winning.”
