The new Continental AllSeasonContact 2 tyre will be rolling into specialist dealers and garages across the UK from July.
The tyre is the latest addition to Continental’s multi-award-winning AllSeasonContact line – and is Continental’s most technologically advanced all-season tyre yet, offering the best possible driving control in any weather situation, better fuel efficiency, enhanced safety and increased driving pleasure – perfect for vehicles of all drive types.
Continental’s tyre developers have used new materials in the tyre’s construction and made innovative changes to the tread pattern and compound, which includes a newly developed, flexible elastomer network that adapts to the road surface. This has resulted in a six per cent reduction in rolling resistance compared to the tyre’s predecessor and has increased mileage by 15 per cent, without compromising on safety.
The AllSeasonContact 2’s V-shaped tread pattern with C-shaped tread blocks creates water channels leading toward the sidewalls of the tyre that facilitate drainage. The many C-shaped blocks in the middle of the tyre’s V-tread pattern support one another, ensuring precise handling throughout the tyre’s service life.
The compound specialists at Continental came up with a combination of the various ‘Chili’ technologies for the tread compound, known as the ‘Chili Blend’. New plasticisers with a high damping effect ensure secure grip and precise steering response in cold, wintry conditions. A new polymer composition offers good adhesion together with short braking distances on both dry and wet roads, even in hot summer weather. And there is also a newly developed, flexible elastomer network that adapts to the road surface, thereby lowering wear and increasing mileage.
On its EU tyre label, the AllSeasonContact 2 achieves a “B” grade in wet braking, rolling resistance and rolling noise. As an all-season tyre, it bears the M+S label and the snowflake symbol required for winter use. Its ride comfort, safe snow characteristics and aquaplaning prevention meet the high standards set by its predecessor.
From June, Continental will start production of 99 sizes between 15 and 21 inches that will eventually cover 87 per cent of all vehicles on the market including most electric vehicles such as the Tesla Model 3, VW ID.Buz and CUPRA Born. The AllSeasonContact 2 will also have a ContiSeal option on selected sizes. In addition, the AllSeasonContact 2 bears the new EV-Compatible logo on the sidewall, indicating the tyre’s compatibility with electric vehicles as well as vehicles of any other drive type.
