Tony Lynch and his Team Geriatric rallycross colleagues have earned themselves an invite to the prestigious French international rallycross event Course des Pilotes Legendaires.
Taking place on October 16 and 17 at the Circuit des Ducs, the event recognises the best drivers in the world of rallycross – including retro rallycross. This year Lynch and his Landsail Tyres-sponsored Team Geriatric Toyota MR2 have been extended an invitation to take part.
“It’s a great honour,” said Tony. “To have my efforts in the British Championship recognised internationally is fantastic.
“After a turbulent year for racing, to go there and perform in front of a big crowd of international rallycross enthusiasts would be a brilliant experience.”
The team’s participation however will depend on their standing in the British Retro Rallycross Championship. The Legendaires comes at a key point in the domestic season, and Tony insists his priority is the British title.
“We are working hard to win the title,” he said. “It has been our sole focus this season. If things are in the balance we won’t risk travelling, we’d rather stay and battle for the title.
“But hopefully we’ll do well, starting this weekend at Pembrey. If that is the case then we will hopefully be able to head over the Channel and show what we can do!”
