Independent Tests Confirm Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 Performance

The class-leading capabilities of the all-new Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 premium ultra-high-performance (UHP) all-season tyre have been confirmed by a series of independent tests conducted in Spain and Finland. The tyre was found to set new benchmarks for wet braking performance and, in the snow, achieved the fastest handling lap times when pitched against four leading all-season competitors.

The new Vredestein tyre also demonstrated an 8% improvement in abrasion resistance compared with its predecessor, helping to maximise tyre life. Rolling resistance has been reduced by 10% to boost driving range, underlining its suitability for the latest generation of electric vehicles.

The Quatrac Pro 2 is available now in an extensive range of size options for wheel diameters from 17- to 24-inches. Reinforcing its sporting credentials, the tyre will also be offered in section widths of up to 355 mm, making it suitable for some of the most powerful passenger vehicles on sale.

The Fastest Performance-Focused Tyre in Snow

Winter testing was conducted at the UTAC winter testing facility in Finland. The UTAC team evaluated the Quatrac Pro 2 and four of its premium competitors using a sensorised vehicle testing system fitted to a BMW 5 Series to record vehicle speed and lap times. All tyres were subjected to the same testing procedures to ensure a fair comparison.

The Quatrac Pro 2 recorded the fastest lap time in the snow handling test, demonstrating exceptional grip, balance and controllability. The independent testers described the tyre as offering “excellent response, stability and controllability under all circumstances.”

To maximise grip on snow-covered surfaces, the Quatrac Pro 2 features ‘3D interlocking’ sipes – the tiny slits in the tread blocks at the shoulder. In contrast to conventional sipes that have a straight cut, the inner faces are zig-zagged in both horizontal and vertical planes to limit tread block movement.

Setting the Benchmark for Wet Grip

Applus+ IDIADA conducted further independent testing in Spain, measuring the Quatrac Pro 2’s dry and wet handling and braking. The Vredestein tyre performed better in the wet than its key competitors. All tyres were tested on a certified asphalt lane with a defined water depth to assess wet performance.

The Quatrac Pro 2 led the group in wet conditions and delivered a 7% wet-braking advantage over one of the segment’s longest-established competitors. Separate testing has confirmed that the tyre has also achieved an ‘A’ wet-grip rating across its entire size range, unique within the UHP all-season segment.

To achieve its all-weather ratings, the Quatrac Pro 2 features longitudinal grooves, maximising the tyre’s ability to resist aquaplaning, as well as aiding braking performance, grip and traction in wet conditions. All sizes of Quatrac Pro 2 incorporate four longitudinal grooves, also unique in the category in addition to directional lateral grooves to support highly efficient water evacuation.

Daniele Lorenzetti, Chief Technology Officer at Apollo Tyres Ltd, commented: “Vredestein has long been recognised for its premium all-season tyres, and these independent tests reinforce that reputation. The Quatrac Pro 2 delivered exceptional grip and traction against other premium competitors, while also improving efficiency and longevity compared with its predecessor.”
