Improved Handling and Lower Rolling Resistance from New Vredestein Ultrac Vorti+ and Ultrac Vorti R+ High-Performance Tyres

Premium Dutch tyre brand Apollo Vredestein has released updated versions of its high-performance summer tyre ranges for premium SUVs, high performance cars and sportscars. Optimised for larger wheels (18- to 22-inches), the Ultrac Vorti+ and Ultrac Vorti R+ tyres feature new construction and revised compound materials to deliver outstanding performance in wet and dry conditions, as well as improved efficiency.

The Ultrac Vorti+ offers drivers superior levels of control, even at the limit of grip. Compared with its predecessor, the Ultrac Vorti, the new tyre has stiffer shoulder construction and sidewalls and a 13% larger bead area. New high-traction tread compounds have been introduced to improve grip and reduce braking distances in both wet and dry conditions. Combined, the changes deliver greater precision and response while cornering and a 5%* improvement in dry handling.

The Ultrac Vorti R+ provides an even higher level of control, especially at greater speeds and during harder cornering. Direct and predictable steering precision coupled with superb handling capability are achieved through the significantly larger apex base, stiffer sidewall construction, and the stable centre rib. In addition, the high traction tread compound is a carefully balanced new performance-centric polymer and resin mix, which enhances grip and control under braking and during rapid direction changes.

For both the Ultrac Vorti+ and Ultrac Vorti R+ the use of next-generation body compounds – in the apex area, rim cushion and carcass – have been deployed to reduce rolling resistance, helping to lower fuel consumption and extend the tyre’s life.

The new Vorti+ range is available in sizes from 18 to 22 inch, while the Vorti R+ is available in 19 to 21 inch. Some of the available sizes have been optimised for rear-axle use and are designed with wider belt angle for even better stability. All variants feature circumferential grooves for efficient water drainage on wet roads, meaning superior wet handling and optimal aquaplaning prevention.

Both of the Ultrac Vorti+ and Ultrac Vorti R+ ranges have been developed and produced at Apollo Vredestein’s R&D facilities in Enschede in the Netherlands.

Yves Pouliquen, Sales and Marketing Director, Europe at Apollo Vredestein, said: “Vredestein tyres already have a long-standing reputation within the high-performance segment, and we are building upon that with the launch of the new Ultrac Vorti+ and Vorti R+. Offering improved standards of performance and safety, and with all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive versions, these new tyres are engineered for enthusiast drivers and for the most demanding dynamic situations.”

The new Vorti+ tyres recently made their debut on the striking Ferrari ‘Breadvan Hommage’ – a coach-built car styled by Niels van Roij Design in the Netherlands. “Extraordinary looking vehicles must be extraordinary to drive, and tyres have a key role to play in this,” comments Niels van Roij. “That is why I insist on fitting ultimate performance tyres that meet premium quality standards and have an exquisite aesthetic. The fact that Vredestein tyres like the Ultrac Vorti+ were developed together with ItalDesign ensures the perfect marriage of Dutch tyre-manufacturing heritage and inimitable Italian flair.”

Apollo Vredestein is a leading manufacturer of premium-quality tyres, which for over 100 years has developed innovative products that deliver best-in-class standards of performance and safety, as well as a rewarding driving experience.
