Halfords Supports its First on Ground Tyre Safety Event as TyreSafe Member

Halfords, the UK’s leading provider of motoring products and services, marked its ten-year membership anniversary by attending its first on-ground event in Blackburn with Darwen on Friday 28 July at Blackburn ASDA. The event, which championed tyre safety and raise awareness of crucial tyre checks in the local community, was supported by Halfords who were providing the public with free tyre checks which revealed that 75% of tyres received advisories.  The main issue identified being perishing, alongside the more commonly understood inflation and tread depth defects.

Their on-ground team provided advice and recommendations to those who received tyre checks, making a significant impact on the vehicles being driven locally with potentially dangerous tyre related issues. Those with advisories were provided with information and support in rectifying the issue in a timely and suitable way.

The event in Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council welcomed key road safety stakeholders including Andy Pratt MBE, Deputy Police Crime Commissioner for Lancashire and Tony Crook, Head of Road Safety at Lancashire County Council. Stuart Lovatt, the TyreSafe Chairman was there to answer questions and provide advice to motorists.

Additionally, representatives from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council were present to further promote the importance of road safety, and in particular tyre safety, in the local community.
