Giti Tire has published full details of independent tests undertaken by TÜV SÜD for both the GT Radial SportActive 2and GT Radial FE2 tyres, with excellent results against leading brands and direct competitors’ products.
The GT Radial SportActive 2 tyre benchmark test was completed on size 235/35ZR19 91Y XL on a VW Golf. All the findings found better or similar results in aquaplaning straight-line, wet braking 80-20 kph (metres), dry handling and dry braking kph 100-0 (metres).
When launched in March 2021, the manufacturer reported the GT Radial SportActive 2 delivered a circa 15% improvement in wet braking, 10% enhancement in wet handling and aquaplaning and a 5% boost in mileage compared to its predecessor, the GT Radial SportActive.
The impressive developments saw the passenger car and SUV tyres achieve an A grade in wet grip, B-D in rolling resistance and a low external noise at just 69db on EU tyre labelling.
Development focused on a tyre that will deliver precision control with superb wet and dry grip, long lasting mileage and a confident, fun driving experience.
The GT Radial FE2 tyre benchmark test was completed on size 205/50R17 93W XL on a VW Golf across the same test criteria.
The key targets for the GT Radial FE2’s development was to deliver a green and energy efficient tyre which remained quiet and comfortable, all while building on wet and dry performance.
In its own tests the tyre registered a 15% improvement in wet braking, 12% upgrade in wet handling and a 7% increase in aquaplaning resistance against the original GT Radial Champiro FE1 pattern. It will also deliver around 5% more mileage.
The advancements resulted in an A in wet grip across the entire range, and B-D in rolling resistance for passenger car and SUV sizes.
Fabio Pecci-Boriani, Senior Product Manager PCR, SUV, Light Truck for Giti Tire (Europe), said: “We are thrilled that independent testing by TÜV SÜD ,a recognised and respected institution, has verified the quality of our two mass market UHP and HP tyres.
‘The test results show that the GT Radial SportActive 2 and GT Radial FE2 is better or extremely close to the direct competition, an additional evidence of the quality of our products and hard evidence to our customers and end users of proof of performance.”
The GT Radial SportActive 2 and GT Radial FE2 were designed and engineered at Giti Tire’s Research and Development Centre in Hannover, Germany, with testing at the company’s MIRA facility in the UK as well as key locations in Germany and Spain.
