Group Tyre Wholesale Limited (GTW) whose Head Office is based in Lester Road, Aylesbury, Bucks. is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Childs as its Managing Director (Elect), effective from July 1st 2024. Gary Oliver, GTW’s current Managing Director and Group Tyre UK’s (GT UK) elected Chairman, is planning retirement from GTW at the end of 2024 after serving the tyre industry in various capacities for 54 years. It is the intention that Stephen will take full control of GTW from January 2025, whilst Gary will continue to offer his services to GT UK, should his elected position be extended at December 2024’s Annual General Meeting.
Stephen Childs brings 25 years of experience within the tyre industry and has a proven track record of achievements and accomplishments having previously worked for UK and European tyre wholesalers and manufacturers alike. Stephen recently served as European Operations Director for GiTi Tire Holdings as well as a 20 year plus period at ETEL/Stapletons, where he served in various roles; Purchasing, Operations, Marketing and Sales, establishing several private brands as well as assuring profitability across the Group.
