During the recent months, Giti Tire has grown its sim-racing exposure, taking part in a number of different international series in the popular digital format. Highlighting these is the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series, including Giti’s Girls Only racing team among two Giti sponsored cars. The racing series integrates cutting-edge virtual racing technology and top drivers from around the world to simulate racing on an extremely accurate Nürburgring circuit. Meanwhile, Giti is also taking part in other high-level simracing events.
The Girls Only team includes Professional WS Racing drivers Carrie Schreiner, Celia Martin, and Laura Kraihamer – who get behind the gaming wheel of a virtual Giti liveried Audi RS3 LMS TCR for intense three hour endurance race action. So far, these ‘Giti’s Angels’ have performed very well, finishing in the top 10 of their TCR Class. In addition, Giti enters a 6-cylander Porsche 911 GT3 Cup into the action, competing against other top class vehicles. This team features experienced drivers Ole Schuchman, Till Behme and Dirk Huperz-Reuber.
The intensity and competitiveness of the races has been noted by the team drivers themselves, and the racing style even helps to improve their performance on the real track. In a recent race, Martin noted about the value of the competitions. “I was consistent and didn’t go off track, it was a very good training concentration wise. I also discovered some things I would like to try in real life. Now I will train hard to be ready for the next one.”
To improve online visibility, the WS Racing simulator, supplied by the Nürburgring eSports Lounge was fitted with cameras which live-streams the drivers throughout the race. This footage can be watched in full and clips were shown during the live broadcasting.
All of the participating digital cars are matched to the style of the company’s racers that will be taking part in the live Nürburgring Endurance racing, which is planned to restart on June 27 and continue through October. Besides this headline series, Giti also is taking part in Simracing Germany, esia Endurance, Densu Simracing, and Virtual Racing – utilizing branded models from BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and Dallara.
Stefan Brohs, Marketing Director Europe at Giti Tire, noted: “We launched our eSport approach last year which has placed us in the position to participate in virtual racing on an expert level. To participate with professional drivers from WS Racing and experienced simracers opens up great marketing potential”.
Giti will soon be back on the track with more races, with the feature 24 Hours Nürburgring race is scheduled to go from September 24-27. Meanwhile, the Digital Series will run four more races throughout the year. Check out the full current 2020 Giti Motorsports Calendar here.
