Giti Tire Launches First ‘A’ Grade RRC Truck Tyre in Europe

Giti Tire is set to launch a full fitment of drive, steer and trailer truck tyres with ‘A’ rated Rolling Resistance Coefficient (RRC), starting with the Giti GDL272 Ecoroad.

The new long-haul drive tyre, available to order now in size 315/70R22.5, is the very first to be available in Europe with the highest grade in RRC.

The tyre sits alongside the Giti GSL271 Ecoroad steer in size 315/70R22.5 and the Giti GTL273 Ecoroad trailer pattern in 385/55R22.5, both of which will be available from quarter four, with all three to be displayed for the first time at The Tire Cologne 2026.

The product line-up, which is focused on long-haul highway applications, has been designed from scratch and features the latest silica-based tread compound to reduce tyre hysteresis and heat generation which ultimately means lower energy dissipation, running temperatures and fuel consumption.

At the same time the compound provides excellent wet grip properties and superior traction, with mileage and durability also delivering at the highest level.

The new tyres have undergone in-depth field tests with a leading EU fleet to confirm performance levels in real-life conditions.

The Giti GDL272 Ecoroad will also be the first to feature a new two-sided Giti logo sidewall design for both information and aesthetics when rotating tyres.

Development of the Ecoroad line-up was led by Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, Germany.

Antonio Palummo, Senior Manager TBR – Product Development and Technical Service for Giti Tire, said: “To launch out first ‘A’ rated rolling resistance truck tyre in Europe is a huge step for the brand and the portfolio. The Ecoroad mission is to help fleets minimise their CO2 footprint by reducing vehicle energy consumption, and the new Giti GDL272 Ecoroad is the first step towards sustainable and eco-friendly transport mobility.”

From day one we benchmarked the project’s performance targets against a leading premium manufacturer, and independent tests show we have been able to equal and in many aspects surpass their results. This truly is a statement of intent from Giti, and one that will change the narrative of what is possible in delivering top tier tyres with a true measurable sustainability target,” concluded Antonio.
