General Tire is expanding its all-terrain portfolio with the new Grabber AT3 Plus, an all-season tyre with optimal traction for changing weather conditions and reliable off-road handling. With this new product, General Tire provides a dedicated tyre that combines on-road and off-road capability for the growing number of 4×4 vehicles, as well as the steadily expanding SUV segment.
Compared to its predecessor, the Grabber AT3 Plus offers increased traction on snow, improved grip on wet roads and a functional tread design that clearly reflects its off-road capabilities. Both the compound and tread pattern have been designed for high durability in all conditions, as well as for precise handling and reduced rolling noise.
“Our R&D department has achieved a remarkable feat in further developing the leading Grabber AT3. The Grabber AT3 Plus delivers improvements across all key performance areas without any compromises,” says Matthias Bartz, General Tire Business Development Manager EMEA.
Versatility Without Compromise
The new Grabber AT3 Plus is designed for year-round use on and off paved roads. All available dimensions are marked with the 3PMSF snowflake symbol and therefore meet the legal requirements for winter use in many countries.
At market launch, the range covers rim diameters from 15 to 22 inches, widths between 195 and 315 millimetres, and aspect rations from 80 to 40%. Selected sizes are available with LT identification as well as LRD and LRE specifications and are therefore designed for higher loads in demanding applications. Depending on the dimension, speed ratings of up to 149 mph are possible.
Proven General Tire‑Technology – Consistently Developed
To balance the performance between robustness, traction and comfort, General Tire relies on advanced, brand-specific 4×4 technologies:
TracGen technology ensures reliable traction on loose surfaces and precise handling on paved roads with big, open tread blocks and numerous gripping edges.
The Comfort Balance technology supports smooth rolling behaviour, reduces noise and contributes to driving comfort even on longer journeys. Specially-developed rubber compounds ensure the right balance between the on- and off-road characteristics of the new Grabber AT3 Plus.
DuraGen technology focuses on off-road durability: a cut and chip resistant tread compound, reinforced tread blocks and stone bumpers increase durability in tough off-road use.
The Grabber AT3 Plus also visually underlines its range of use. The robust sidewall design with an accentuated shoulder area, clear tread marking and technology logos gives the tyre a powerful look, suitable for modern SUVs and 4×4 vehicles. Depending on the size, the new Grabber AT3 Plus achieves a “C” rating for wet braking and a “B” rating for noise emissions.
