Further Success for the New Continental SportContact™ 7

Having entered the market late last year, Continental’s sporty flagship SportContact™ 7 tyre has achieved yet another award win, the fifth in the UK this year. The tyre took the win in the Auto Express 2022 Ultra-Ultra-High Performance tyre test, the first iteration of this test for the magazine.

As the seventh generation in Continental’s iconic SportContact™ range, the new tyre aimed to improve on all performance criteria compared with its predecessor – giving drivers the ultimate driving experience while maximising safety and sustainability.

The SportContact™ 7 is suitable for sporty vehicles and is available to fit rim sizes from 18 to 23 inches.

Peter Robb, Marketing Director at Continental said: “It is a clean sweep for the SportContact™ 7 with five UK award wins under its belt, not including a number of wins in Europe too. We developed the tyre to redefine tyre performance and we can certainly say we have delivered.”

The Auto Express test was performed in a Golf GTI with the ultra-ultra-high performance tyre size 235/35ZR19.

Commenting after the Continental SportContact™ 7 beat two competitors to win the category,Steve Fowler Editor in Chief at Auto Express had the following to say:

“Cars are connected to the road by tyres and only tyres and as such are so very important. Continental have raised the bar for this sector. The tyres delivered a remarkable sharpness that helped the testers achieve quick lap times and short stopping distances.”

The SportContact™ 7’s adaptive pattern delivers safe and consistent handling on wet and dry roads, even at high speeds. The balance between its stiff low-void patterns and the use of Continental’s BlackChili compound enables high performance driving coupled with significantly increased mileage (versus the SportContact™ 6).

There is a tailor-made SportContact™ 7 for each vehicle class, giving every driver the chance to experience the SportContact™ feeling, whenever they start the engine.
