The PremiumContact 7 was put through its paces once again in the Auto Express 2023 Summer Tyre Test, where it was tested on a Volkswagen Golf in the popular tyre size 205/55 R16. Despite coming up against a competitive test field, the tyre placed first.
In the test, the PremiumContact 7 did exceptionally well in areas such as wet and dry braking and handling in the wet, further highlighting the developments made to the tyre
The PremiumContact 7 is the seventh generation of the multi award-winning PremiumContact range. For the summer tyre, Continental have introduced leading technologies such as a size-specific design, innovative RedChili compound for the tread and an adaptive tread design.
Steve Fowler, Editor in Chief of Auto Express said, “Continental are serial winners in Auto Express Tyre Tests, so it’s no surprise to see the Continental PremiumContact 7 come out on top this year. What impresses us most is not only this year’s winning margin, but also how Continental is constantly innovating to produce tyres that deliver exactly what today’s car buyers want – a blend of safety and efficiency with drivability from a brand they can trust.”
This test win follows on from successes earlier this year in the Auto Express Best Touring Tyre Test and Tyre Reviews’ 2023 Summer Tyre Test and 2023 UHP Tyre Test.
The adaptable tread design of the PremiumContact 7 ensures even greater stability and ride comfort on both wet and dry roads. Internal comparison testing performed by Continental showed wet handling has improved by five percent and wet braking by as much as seven percent when tested against its predecessor, the PremiumContact 6.
Peter Robb, Marketing Director at Continental said; “This is an outstanding endorsement for the latest generation of our passenger tyres. Following the SportContact 7’s triumph last year, and the successful start to 2023 with multiple test awards for the PremiumContact 7, this new win is testament to the strength of our products.”
The PremiumContact 7 is available in sizes between 16 and 21 inches. It is suitable for both electric and traditional combustion engine cars and SUVs and comes with a special EV-Compatible logo marking on the sidewall.
