The Falken e. ZIEX, which was first presented at the Tire Cologne in May 2022, is one of the most energy-efficient tyres ever developed and manufactured by the Sumitomo Rubber Group.
Its asymmetrical profile, which was developed with Advanced 4D Nano Design technology, is characterised by optimised profile edges. These prevent pressure peaks on the edges of the tread blocks, which lead to an even distribution of force: For a better grip level on both wet and dry roads and an extended life of the tyre. The tread design is also optimised at the contour of the tire shoulder, which reduces the rolling resistance and increases the range of the vehicle.
The e. ZIEX complements the advantages of electric vehicles, such as smooth running and low noise, with a seamless, continuous slat contact, which further reduces the noise level of the tyre. This is achieved by a staggered arrangement of the profile grooves. The innovative SILENT CORE technology from Falken also contributes to noise reduction: The polyurethane foam layer inside the tyre minimises the cavity resonance of the e. ZIEX significantly, which contributes to noise reduction in the interior.
“We are looking forward to the premiere of our new e. ZIEX tyres,” says Andreas Giese, Chief Corporate Officer of Falken Tyre Europe GmbH. “This tyre is the first step into a future in which EV-specific tyres will form a core component of our range. The e. ZIEX combines comfort, safety, durability and a high level of performance, making it the ultimate replacement tyre for electric vehicles for our customers.”
The preliminary EU classification of the label values confirms that the e. ZIEX has an “A” for fuel consumption, an “A” for wet grip and another “A” for its noise emissions of 69 dB. The e. ZIEX will initially be available in eleven sizes between 17 and 21 inches before it comes to the market in 2024 in other sizes.
