Continental is pleased to unveil its new Conti Eco HT 5 trailer tyre, completing its fifth-generation Conti Eco portfolio for freight transport.
Together, with the Conti Eco HS 5 steer tyre and Conti Eco HD 5 drive tyre, it provides fleets with a coordinated solution that combines lower operating costs, high mileage and reduced rolling resistance that can help improve fuel efficiency.
Developed for regional and long-distance transport operations, the Conti Eco HT 5 extends the benefits of the Conti Eco Generation 5 family to the trailer axle. While trailer tyres are not driven, they account for a significant share of the rolling resistance of a truck and trailer combination. Lower rolling resistance at the trailer axle can help reduce fuel consumption and consequently, vehicle-related CO₂ emissions during operation.
New Conti Eco HT 5 Trailer Tyre: Completing Fifth-Generation Conti Eco Portfolio for Freight Transport
“Every tyre contributes to the efficiency and operating costs of a truck and trailer combination. While attention often focuses on the steer and drive axles, trailer tyres also play an important role in rolling resistance and fuel consumption,” says Hinnerk Kaiser, responsible for the development of truck and bus tyres in the EMEA region at Continental.
“With the Conti Eco HT 5, we are extending the benefits of our fifth-generation Conti Eco portfolio to the trailer axle and helping fleets improve the efficiency of their transport operations.”
Trailer Efficiency Matters
A trailer typically runs on multiple tyres that are continuously in contact with the road. As a result, trailer tyres have a direct impact on stability, fuel efficiency and overall operating performance. Depending on vehicle configuration, trailer tyres can account for up to 50 percent of the total rolling resistance of a truck and trailer combination.
The new Conti Eco HT 5 has been engineered to deliver a good balance of low rolling resistance and high mileage, while promoting even wear and providing reliable grip across a wide range of operating conditions. The tyre incorporates rolling-resistance-optimised materials, a newly designed sidewall and advanced filler compounds to improve fuel efficiency.
An innovative tread compound and refined curing process contribute to high mileage and long service life, while a redesigned five-rib tread pattern promotes even wear, stable handling and consistent performance in varying weather and road conditions on both regional and long-haul routes.
Compared with the Conti Hybrid HT3+, the new Conti Eco HT 5 delivers up to a 12% reduction in rolling resistance under specified test conditions. These improvements can help fleets reduce fuel consumption, lower CO₂ emissions and decrease tyre-related operating costs.

“For the Conti Eco HT 5, our focus was on improving efficiency while maintaining durability,” explains Kaiser. “The combination of low rolling resistance, long service life and balanced wear characteristics can help fleets reduce tyre-related operating costs while maintaining reliable performance in demanding transport operations.”
Supporting Cost Efficiency and Sustainability
The Conti Eco Generation 5 portfolio forms part of Continental’s broader effort to support customers in improving transport efficiency through technological innovation and optimised tyre performance.
By combining low rolling resistance, high mileage and long service life across all axle positions, the portfolio supports customers in addressing key industry challenges, including rising fuel costs, increasing regulatory and customer requirements related to transport efficiency and emissions reduction.
Conti Eco-Portfolio provides fleets with a coordinated solution.
A Complete Solution for Freight Transport
The fifth-generation Conti Eco portfolio brings together steer, drive and trailer axle tyres in a coordinated solution for freight transport. Combining low rolling resistance, high mileage and long service life, it helps fleet operators improve efficiency across the entire vehicle combination while supporting lower operating costs and reliable performance.
The Conti Eco HT 5 will be available starting September 2026 in the following sizes: 385/65 R 22.5 and 385/55 R 22.5.
