Billy Monger to be Special Guest Speaker at TyreSafe Briefing

Britain’s rising racing star, Billy Monger, will be the special guest speaker at the TyreSafe Briefing on 7th July at St George’s Park. He will be joined by a stellar line-up of experts in road safety from the Police, Fire Services, SMMT and National Highways.

The TyreSafe Briefing starts at 1pm on Thursday 7th July at St George’s Park (home of the English FA), Burton upon Trent.

Billy’s rise through the motorsport ranks was temporarily thwarted following his involvement in a horrific racing collision in Formula 4, which led to the amputation of both his legs. Refusing to give up his career, Billy Whizz, as he is nicknamed, has overcome huge adversity and challenges to get back behind the wheel of his much-loved racing cars.

Billy Whizz will be sharing his story and discussing his expert views on tyres.

He will be joined in the programme by Detective Superintendent Paul Keasey and National Highways, who will be revealing the initial findings of research into the condition of tyres on vehicles involved in collisions. National Highways will also be giving insight into the latest round of the research into the tread depth of tyres at the point of replacement a highly-valued exercise previously conducted in 2016.

Representatives from emergency services involved in the tragic story surrounding Megan Byrne will also speak.

The Briefing will also incorporate an exhibition – those wishing to display their tyre or road safety offering are invited to contact theteam@tyresafe.org to reserve a place.

Stuart Jackson, TyreSafe Chair, said: “We’re delighted the TyreSafe Briefing is back as an in-person event and we have an outstanding line-up for our attendees. There is no better event to attend to listen to the latest research and insights from the tyre safety world and meet the key personalities and stakeholders TyreSafe is proud to call our supporters. I encourage you to reserve your seat now to avoid disappointment.”
