Apollo Tyres has established an exclusive distribution deal with leading Norwegian tyre wholesaler Norgesdekk for the supply of its Vredestein premium-brand passenger car, light truck and classic tyres in Norway.
From 1 October 2022, Apollo Tyres will stop the direct sales of Vredestein tyres to retailers and officially transfer distribution to Norgesdekk. This will enable Apollo Tyres to accelerate plans to increase the market share of the Vredestein brand in Norway.
The company’s Off Highway tyre (OHT) and Truck and Bus Radial tyre (TBR) product sales will continue to be sold directly through Apollo Tyres Nordic AB in all Nordic markets.
Jone Stangeland, Chief Financial Officer and Shareholder of Norgesdekk, says: “We have a long-term relationship with Apollo Tyres and are incredibly proud to take the Vredestein brand forward. This partnership will help to drive awareness and availability of Vredestein products across the country.”
Norgesdekk offers Norway’s widest range of tyres and wheels for cars, trucks, agriculture machines and specialised vehicles. Today, Norgesdekk currently disposes 43,000 m² of stock, with a capacity of more than 550,000 tyres and wheels. The deal enables Norgesdekk to expand its product offering, benefiting from Apollo Tyres’ profile and research and development strategy in Europe.
Frank Migo, Regional Sales Manager, Apollo Tyres Nordics, says: “This new distribution deal with Norgesdekk is central to our strategy to strengthen our operational footprint across the Nordics. Our Vredestein tyres have proved to be very popular in these countries, thanks to performance characteristics that are well suited to the climate and road conditions. Our strong relationship with Norgesdekk will allow the brand to fulfil its true potential in Norway.”
Norgesdekk originated from the Jæren Dekk Group and was established as an independent wholesale chain in February 2010. Since its inception, Norgesdekk has developed into Norway’s largest independent wholesaler for tyres and aluminum rims. Through acquisitions and investments, the company has expanded its facilities across Norway, including seven branches from Narvik in the north to Kristiansand in the south. In 2021, Norgesdekk recorded a turnover of nearly NOK 1 billion.
