Accuride Corporation – a leading supplier of components to the global commercial vehicle industry – today announced the introduction of the lightest steel wheel trailer product portfolio for Europe’s commercial vehicle industry. Accuride’s new light weight wheel offers up to fourkilograms in weight savings compared to Accuride’s current offeringwhich could represent 32 kilograms weight savings in a tractor-trailer combination.
Re-engineered to reduce weight by almost 10 percent, the new steel wheels are standard type 22.5 x 11.75 wheels with improved mechanical properties of new high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel. They also include a new rim contour that meets all the stringent European test standards, including LBF-BIAX EUWA 3.23 and EUWA ES 3.11 as required by leading truck and trailer OEMs.
Produced at the Company’s steel wheel production facility in Solingen, Germany, the new wheels will be available by the end of 1st Quarter, 2020.
