Autotech Group has become one of the first organisations to sign the Government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge, with CEO Simon King attending the official launch at 10 Downing Street.
As the only business from the automotive sector among the first wave of signatories, Autotech Group’s inclusion recognises the significant progress the company has made in embedding cyber resilience, governance and information security across its business, while reflecting the increasing strategic importance of these disciplines within today’s automotive industry.
The milestone marks another significant step in Autotech Group’s long-term commitment to governance, quality and information security, demonstrating an approach that has evolved alongside the digital transformation of the automotive and wider mobility sectors.
Launched 7th July by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the Cyber Resilience Pledge encourages organisations to make cyber security a board-level responsibility, strengthen supply chain resilience and adopt practical measures to reduce cyber risk.
The initiative comes at a pivotal time for the automotive industry. As connected vehicles, cloud-based workshop management systems, digital diagnostics, technician training platforms and increasingly integrated supply chains become the norm, organisations are managing greater volumes of sensitive data than ever before.
At the same time, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is increasing both the scale and sophistication of cyber threats, making cyber resilience a strategic business priority rather than simply an IT consideration.
Recognising this shift, Autotech Group has spent recent years strengthening its governance, quality and information security framework through internationally recognised standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus. Together, these independently verified certifications demonstrate the company’s long-term commitment to quality, operational resilience, information security and continual improvement, providing customers across the automotive and wider mobility sectors with confidence that robust governance is embedded throughout the business.
Representing Autotech Group at the official launch event, Simon King joined senior business leaders from across the UK economy in publicly committing to the Pledge’s three core principles of board-level cyber governance, stronger supply chain security and improved organisational resilience.
“The automotive industry is becoming increasingly connected, bringing enormous opportunities but also greater responsibility,” comments Simon. “It’s important that our sector is part of the wider conversation around cyber resilience because trust depends on how well we protect the information, systems and people our customers rely on every day. That’s why we’ve embedded security and governance into the way we operate, and why becoming one of the first signatories to the Government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge was a natural next step.”
Cyber Security Minister Liz Lloyd said: “As one of the first to sign the Cyber Resilience Pledge, Autotech Group is sending a clear message to its customers, investors and supply chains that cyber resilience is a core part of how it does business. The cyber threat facing the UK is serious, growing, and evolving fast because of AI. These first signatories are showing how the whole country needs to respond, by taking practical and achievable steps to bolster their cyber defences and secure everyone’s growth and prosperity.”
