TyreSafe, the UK’s tyre safety charity, is delighted to announce that Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service (DSFRS) has officially joined its national network of supporters, strengthening joint efforts to reduce collisions caused by illegal or poorly maintained tyres.
The partnership follows discussions at the Road Safety GB Conference, where TyreSafe and DSFRS identified shared priorities around community engagement, prevention, and improving safety for all road users. As a supporter, DSFRS will have full access to TyreSafe’s campaign library, educational resources, and community outreach materials, all designed to help empower drivers with the knowledge needed to stay safe on the roads.
The collaboration aligns DSFRS with other leading blue-light organisations already working with TyreSafe, including the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) and the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC).
Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe Chair, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service to the TyreSafe supporter community. Fire and rescue services play a vital role in road safety education and prevention, and their frontline experience gives them a unique voice in helping drivers understand the real risks of driving on illegal or unsafe tyres. By joining forces, we can help more road users take simple, proactive steps that prevent collisions and keep families and communities safe.”
Mike Bourne, TyreSafe Operations Director, added, “Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service bring significant expertise and commitment to prevention work. We’re delighted to collaborate with Annabelle, Andrew and the wider DSFRS team to further strengthen tyre safety education across the region. We look forward to supporting their community safety initiatives with free TyreSafe resources and campaigns.”
Annabelle Priest, Road Safety Lead, Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, “We are pleased to join TyreSafe as an official supporter and strengthen our shared commitment to preventing avoidable harm on our roads. Our crews see first-hand the consequences of unsafe vehicles, and tyre condition is a factor that is too often overlooked. By partnering with TyreSafe, we can provide our communities with trusted guidance, practical resources, and clear messages that support safer driving habits. Working together, we can help ensure that every journey across Devon and Somerset is a safer one.”
DSFRS will now be featured among TyreSafe’s Blue Light supporters on the official website, with a full press release shared with DSFRS’s communications team for final approval.
