Sailun Tyre Sponsor Tokyo Windsurfing Medal Hope

With the Olympic Games due to begin in Tokyo on 23rd July, Sailun Tyre have released full details of their sponsorship and support of windsurfing medal hope, Kiran Badloe.

Three-time windsurfing World Champion, and potential Gold medal-winner in Tokyo, Badloe is delighted with the Sailun sponsorship: “Thanks to this sponsor I can fully focus on the Tokyo Games. During the run-up to the Games, I am financially supported by Sailun. That gives me the peace and space I need to prepare myself optimally for Tokyo.”

Kiran Badloe is a 26-year-old Dutch athlete. At the age of 7, Kiran moved with his parents to Bonaire (a Dutch municipality island in the Leeward Antilles in the Caribbean), where he took up windsurfing. At the age of 9 he entered his first Regatta.

Moving back to Almere in 2004, he continued with his passion (even in much cooler waters).

Improving continuously, training smartly, and planning meticulously, Kiran’s preparation started to pay dividends and his performances became outstanding.

He won the gold medal in the men‘s event at the 2019 RS:X World Championships and 2020 RS:X World Championships. In October 2020, he competed at the iQFoil International Games held at Campione, Lake Garda, and is now in the final stages of his Tokyo Olympic Games preparation.

Sailun’s sponsorship of Kiran and windsurfing dovetails synergistically into the company’s smart approach to tyre manufacturing – both embrace the key attributes of research, use of technology, preparation, develop- ment, and performance.

The sponsorship of Kiran Badloe is a long-term strategic initiative for Sailun and represents a fundamental shift towards the correct repositioning of the Sailun brand. It reflects several core principles, and aligns beautifully with the key focusses of performance, technology, and smart objectives.

An initial component of the sponsorship agreement has been the production of several social media physical exercise videos. These are available in July via Instagram – #FITWITHKIRAN – and include 4 separate beach-based physical challenges undertaken by Kiran – utilising Sailun tyres. The four episodes are:

  • PUSH UPS
  • SQUATS
  • SIT UPS
  • MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS

Further parts of the sponsorship journey will be developed and issued in the forthcoming months.

The 26-year-old Dutch windsurfer’s collaboration with Sailun and their local Benelux distributor, TTI Tire Trading, was sealed at sea off the coast of Scheveningen – Managing Director of TTI, Peter-Alexander van ‘t Hof, is also a keen windsurfer!

Sailun Tyre was founded in 2002, in the National Economic and Technological Development Zone in Qingdao, China. Sailun have become one of the bestselling and most popular mid-range range tyre brands and is now ranked the 16th largest tyre manufacturer in the world.
