Preston General Tire Dealer Keeps The Mountain Rescue Moving

Lancashire based General Tire Performance Partner, Roadrunner Tyre and Service Centre, have chosen to support the Coniston Mountain Rescue Team with a gifted set of the General Grabber X3 mud-terrain tyres to help the team keep its emergency response vehicle safe both on and off the road.

Roadrunner Tyre and Service Centre based near Garstang in Preston, are a General Tire dealer and local specialist of 4×4 and SUV tyres. The retailer wanted to offer their support to the volunteer-led Coniston Mountain Rescue Team to supply their emergency response vehicles with tyres for lifesaving work.

Due to the nature of Mountain Rescue it is of utmost importance that their vehicles are ready for action any time of day or night. General Tire and Roadrunner have provided a set of Grabber X3 mud-terrain tyres to the team to ensure they can carry out their work on any terrain without being hampered by tyre performance.

The donation from General Tire will not only enable the Mountain Rescue Team to continue to respond to emergencies safely, but it has also saved the team hundreds of pounds in charitable donations that are used to fund the service.

Andrew Hodgkinson, owner of Roadrunner Tyre and Service Centre has said: ”We are delighted to be able to donate this set of General Grabber X3s to Coniston Mountain Rescue Team who work tirelessly to keep both locals and tourists safe whilst in the Lake District. The team are volunteers and entirely self-funded, receiving no Government support, so it was a very easy decision to help them out with this set of tyres for one of their Land Rover Ambulances. The team have not been able to fund raise in their usual way due to COVID-19 and have had a huge upturn in the need for their help due to a lot more people heading out to enjoy the great outdoors. We know the team will be able to use the tyres to their full potential for many miles to come with an extreme off-road application.”

Dave Dineen, Micheldever’s Head of 4×4 Sales and Technical adds: “We are fully aware of how vital the service Coniston Mountain Rescue Team is to the local area, so we wanted to show our support through this donation. The response vehicle is fundamental to the volunteers and the rescue service takes pride in ensuring their vehicle is fully operational to ensure they can deal with whatever conditions are thrown at it. In considering the rugged terrain of Coniston, the General Grabber X3 is the suitable choice for the grip the team demands to carry out their crucial role in the community.”
