Pirelli Shows Its Support For Tyre Safety Month Again This Year

Group of Level 3 Motor Vehicle Students from Burton and South Derbyshire College, at the Pirelli Performance Centre, Battista Road

Pirelli has once again supported TyreSafe’s ‘Tyre Safety Month’ this October, to remind road users of the importance of ensuring their tyres are safe and properly maintained.

Tyre Safety Month is an annual campaign, launched and championed by UK charity TyreSafe. Each year, the organisation pushes the key messages behind tyre safety and encourages routine tyre maintenance, focusing on air pressure, condition and tread depth. Every October, Pirelli comes together with large swathes of the tyre industry and automotive world to help spread awareness of the campaign.

Four special events took place at Pirelli’s state-of-the-art Performance Centre (PPC) located in Burton-upon-Trent, adjacent to Pirelli’s UK headquarters, for a detailed look at all things tyre safety. Attending were motor vehicle students from local college Burton and South Derbyshire College, as well as members of the car owner’s clubs from Porsche, Alfa Romeo and Jaguar.

Centre manager, Gareth Williams, and his team welcomed the groups to the PPC, which is used as a training centre and a benchmark for the company’s growing network of Performance Centres. There are now 128 PPCs across the UK, however this development is the only one to be exclusively owned by Pirelli. All of the groups were provided with a detailed insight into the equipment the centre uses to check and replace tyres and learned more about the importance of effective tyre maintenance.

The initiatives ran as part of the manufacturer’s ongoing support and work with TyreSafe, with the aim of educating and informing on the importance of tyre safety and properly maintaining your vehicle’s tyres.

Gareth Williams said: “Tyre Safety Month is always an important event in our calendar. It has been a pleasure hosting all the groups during this period and showcasing our high technical levels and commitment to service at our centre.”

When was the last time you checked your tyres? Remember, you can always go to your local Pirelli Performance Centre for a free tyre check. To find your nearest centre and for more information, visit www.pirelli.co.uk/ppc. Take a look atwww.tyresafe.org for further tyre safety information.
