Nokian Tyres Again Included in the Prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

Nokian Tyres has been included in the Dow Jones’ DJSI World sustainability index for the fourth consecutive year. The company was also selected for the more strictly defined DJSI Europe index. This means that the company is among the most sustainable listed companies in the world. The company received full 100 points in Product Quality & Recall Management, Environmental Reporting, Environmental Policy & Management and Social Reporting.

“We are proud to show leadership in sustainability and to receive this acknowledgement. In May 2020, Nokian Tyres became the first tyre company to have its’ Science Based Targets for decreasing CO2 emissions officially approved. Our global team continues to work hard to achieve these goals and continuously improve in the area of sustainability,” says President & CEO Jukka Moisio.

In six years, Nokian Tyres has reduced CO2 emissions from production by 44%. The rolling resistance of Nokian Tyres’ tyres has been reduced by 8% on average, which equals to the exhaust fumes of 65,000 cars annually. The goal of this determined work is to improve the eco-friendliness of the products without compromising on safety.

Indices list the world’s most sustainable companies – including Nokian Tyres

The DJSI World is comprised of corporate leaders in global sustainability as identified by SAM, now a part of S&P Global. Each year, SAM evaluates more than 7,300 companies around the world. The Corporate Sustainability Assessment focuses on criteria that are both industry-specific and financially material and has been doing so since 1999.

For investors, this is a highly valued, comprehensive corporate sustainability assessment. The assessment of companies this year is based on their performance in 2019. Only leading companies in each industry are included in the indices each year.
