Late 2018 saw the completion of ‘stage one’ of Kirkby Tyres expansion plans with brand new additional state of the art warehousing facilities coming into use (measuring over 80,000 square feet). A successful gala opening was held in October 2018 in conjunction with our 60th anniversary celebrations.
In 2019 we have begun ‘stage two’ of our expansion plans at the Liverpool central distribution facility. Once completed in 2020, it will bring our total covered tyre and wheel storage space to 250,000 square feet.
Our anniversary year (2018) also saw an expansion with regard to members of the management team. A new marketing manager (Graeme Wilcock) with B2B experience within the distribution sector has joined to lead a growing team housed within a new dedicated marketing office space.
Growth in personnel has been matched by investments in technology. 2019 saw the beginning of an implementation process to upgrade our computer systems in order to bring about further efficiencies in key business processes and systems, resulting in better service to our customers.
In 2019 we decided to look for further improvements in our warehouse technology. Using existing Wi-fi enabled infrastructure we introduced an innovative pick note system that has resulted in a quicker goods outwards and order fulfilment process, enabling us to further extend “cut off” time for our industry-leading 24 hour next day delivery service (UK & Ireland).
Kirkby Tyres continues to invest in the latest product technologies, holding over 77 IF and over 79 VF agricultural tyres. Stocking over 100,000 tyres and wheels across more than 900 tread patterns, 1100 sizes and more than 6500 SKUs, Kirkby Tyres holds the widest range of agricultural, industrial, OTR and TBR tyres and wheels covering every application possible, making us the largest and most comprehensive distributor of off-highway tyre and wheel solutions in the UK and Ireland. As well as servicing the replacement market, Kirkby Tyres Original Equipment (OE) division supplies agricultural, industrial and TBR tyre and wheel assemblies to key blue chip manufacturing companies and smaller trailer manufacturers throughout the UK and Ireland.
Our sales staff and engineers within the OE division are highly regarded for their experience and knowledge. With our large stock holding in both TBR and agricultural tyres and wheels, our on–site manufacturing facilities, shot blasting facilities, paint booths and fitting equipment, we are able to offer bespoke wheel manufacturing and a complete solution to customers requiring just in time (JIT) deliveries of TBR and agricultural product.
