Giti Tire’s Martin Gibson up to Second In BTRC

Successful Snetterton weekend sets up thrilling finale with two meetings remaining

Giti Tire’s Martin Gibson goes into the penultimate round of the 2021 British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) second in the title race, trailing by only one point, having secured the highest points tally at Snetterton.

Gibson has now amassed a total of 254 points following two victories, two third places, a sixth place finish and two fastest laps across five races on the 2.9 mile circuit.

He also showed his mettle in the opening qualification session where he secured pole position on the grid having recorded 2:24:705, an average speed of 73.86mph. As is normal the races included both standard and reverse grid formats.

Pembrey on October 9-10 and Brands Hatch on November 6-7 complete this year’s BTRC calendar.

His partner at Giti Tire Motorsport, Stuart Oliver secured second in race five to ensure a one-two finish. He also came third, fourth place twice and fifth.

Both units race on Giti Race-Tuned v1 global competition truck tyres in size 315/70R22.5, which were pushed to the limits across a weekend which stayed mostly dry before the circuit was soaked prior to and throughout the final race. They are available to purchase throughout Europe via Truck Sport UK.

Gibson, Giti Tire’s Manager – EU Testing Centre and Motorsport UK, said: “It’s been another fantastic weekend’s racing, and with two meetings to go I’ll keep pushing as hard as I can, safe in the knowledge the Giti Race-Tuned v1s will keep me on track.”
