Cambrian Tyres Donates Brand New BMW Motorbike to Blood Bikes Mid Wales

Earlier this month Cambrian Tyres, an independent 2-wheel tyre distributor, were pleased to present their local Blood Bikes Mid Wales group with a brand new addition to their life-saving motorcycle fleet.

Cambrian Tyres generously donated a brand new BMW R1250 RT LE motorcycle to Blood Bikes Mid Wales, which provides a completely free courier service for the NHS. Each bike used by the charity gets given a name. This new bike has affectionately been named Myfanwy after the late wife of Cambrian Tyres founder Cledwyn Evans, who sadly passed away early last year.

Myfanwy, who was also known by many Aberystwyth residents as Margaret, played an instrumental role in founding the company, which celebrated 50 years in business back in February of this year. She was someone who contributed a great deal to the local community, and Cambrian Tyres hopes that this gift in her memory will continue to make a difference in Aberystwyth and beyond for years to come.

Mathew Leeman, Cambrian Tyres Sales Manager and Area Representative and Trustee of the Blood Bikes Mid Wales charity kindly accepted the keys from Cledwyn.

Blood Bikes Wales volunteers do an absolutely amazing job with both transporting essential and often life-saving supplies for the Welsh NHS. Since the start of the pandemic the charity has seen a rise in demand for its services, at the peak of the pandemic their workload increased by over 300%.

Leeman states “The new bike enables us to continue offering the Hywel dda Health Board a free courier service. In the 5 years we’ve been operating for the Aberystwyth area we have never missed a shift, and we operate 7 days a week.”
