BIG Successes for JBH with Bandvulc Gripmaster

Aggregate specialists Jeremy Bishop Haulage continue to see the benefit of working with fellow-Devonshire tyre manufacturer, Bandvulc, choosing high-quality retread BIG-D Gripmaster construction tyres for its fleet.

Jeremy Bishop Haulage (JBH) is a family run, inert waste, recycling and tipper haulage company, which supply first class recycled and quarried aggregates. The haulier has been a Bandvulc customer for many years, crediting this long-term partnership with a shared business ethos, solid service and of course, the high-quality retread tyres which are more than up to the tough job required.

Will Bishop, Logistics Director for JBH says, “Dealing with Bandvulc has always been easy, deliveries are made quickly and because the tyres are specifically manufactured for the construction industry, they perform and provide excellent grip in these conditions.  The nature of our work means that we require a lot from our tyres, they need to perform on really rough terrain without sustaining damage and whilst our tyres rarely wear to the end of their life, Bandvulc products really endure the conditions well and outperform other non-specialist tyres.”

The JBH 14-strong fleet is made up of both 6 and 8 Wheel Tippers and an Artic trailer. The company chooses Bandvulc BIG-D Gripmaster to suit the heavy duty on and off-highway nature of their business.  Developed for tough use, Bandvulc’s Gripmaster products have all been tested in harsh construction environments. The BIG-D drive axle tyre features a bespoke compound designed for resistance to punctures, cuts and damage along with an integrated kerbing band, first seen on Bandvulc’s Wastemaster range, which provides sidewall protection to help reduce damage and enhance tyre life.

Gary Williams, Bandvulc Account Manager, says, “JBH’s vehicles work hard in the quarries and tyres are really put to work on aggregate, sand and stone surfaces along with gravel slopes and gradients.  Bandvulc’s BIG-D tyres have a proven grip pattern and with the added benefit of the sidewall protection feature, this certainly prevents excessive wear and damage on the shoulders and sidewalls we’re pleased they are providing such a robust solution for JBH”.

Bandvulc has been keeping trucks on the move with safe, high quality, high performance retread tyres since 1971 and, with 50 years of retreading experience, innovation is at the core of Bandvulc’s strategy.  Acquired by Continental Tyres in 2016, Bandvulc now produces a premium quality retread tyre every three minutes to serve commercial vehicle customers across the country, offering more than 100 different tread patterns and sizes including specialist applications. It uses its own bespoke tread compounds developed in-house at Bandvulc Mixing, to bring successful retread offerings to all sectors of the commercial truck tyre market.

Every Bandvulc retread tyre produced saves 80% of the materials required to manufacture a new tyre, therefore significantly reducing the impact on the environment. This means the company are able to save 30kg of rubber compound, up to 20kg of steel and 60kg of CO2 on every retread tyre produced compared to a new tyre.

For Will Bishop, this environmental commitment is important. He says, “We have dealt with Bandvulc for many years.  Not only do we know the tyres perform, but it’s great to know that the tyres we use in our quarries are manufactured locally by a company who shares our commitment to the environment.”
