Thousands of automotive technicians from retail centres across the UK are being urged to embrace the pressure and enter Autogem’s new Tyre Pressure Monitoring System talent competition, with premium prizes and prestigious awards up for grabs for a second year.
Following on from the huge success of Autogem’s inaugural TPMS Expert contest last year, the company has changed up a gear with its Under Pressure ’23 event, featuring qualifying rounds between April 19 and 21 and a grand finale to be held on June 28, at a top secret location, to be announced in the coming weeks.
Autogem can already confirm Autotech Training and CAM Systems as official sponsors and categories will include Large Tyre Retailer, Small Tyre Retailer and a Young TPMS Expert element for the first time.
Under Pressure ’23 is the aftermarket’s only dedicated campaign to celebrate excellence in TPMS system diagnosis, consumer engagement and technical resolution. It’s a further commitment from Autogem to position the technology as a stand-alone category on a par with brakes, batteries, tyres or any other aspect of motoring care.
A panel of independent judges – featuring some high profile industry figures – will assess finalists’ ability to diagnose TPMS problems, the way they are communicated thereafter, and the action taken to provide a quick and effective solution. All activity will be against the clock in conditions similar to a typical workshop using Autogem’s exclusive equipment.
Autogem’s Managing Director Prashant Chopra said that Under Pressure ’23 was going to be an even bigger and better event to last year’s inaugural TPMS Expert contest, which was a two-year concept in the making, featuring some of the biggest names in the automotive retail sector.
“We created something extremely special with TPMS Expert and we knew that we had to make the event even more memorable this year. I have absolutely no doubt that Under Pressure ’23 will do this, and we’ll see thousands more talented technicians taking passion in their work and demonstrating their TPMS ability.
“We wanted to raise standards and remind the aftermarket about the importance of TPMS as a vital safety feature. We always said that last year was just the beginning and our promise will be brought to life in style over the coming months as we raise our game yet further.”
The competition is open to all UK tyre technicians using Autogem’s patented i-sensor® technology – the UK’s leading TPMS equipment used by the largest and most respected tyre retailers and specialist tyre-related workshops.
Autotech Training was the first company to put their name alongside Under Pressure ’23 as an official sponsor following on from their support in 2022. Dave Walker, Autotech Training’s Head of Business Development, has also offered his services to reprise his role as one of the judges, which Autogem were keen to accept: “As a company committed to upskilling the automotive industry, we are delighted to once again partner with Autogem as this competition recognises talent and elevates the skill set of people working within the sector,” he said.
CAM Systems have also chosen to support the event for the second year too. Chris Allen, General Manager of CAM Systems said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Autogem for a second successive year, in what is one of the most innovative standard-raising competitions anywhere in the aftermarket.
“We share Autogem’s passion for recognising excellence in the industry and their passion towards a critical safety aspect that benefits millions of cars on our roads.”
